How to choose and recognize an oriental fragrance

The Oriental fragrances are very popular for evening wear and months winter, thanks to their warm and durable scents. The Oriental fragrances for men and women are often inspired by early perfume creations in places like India and ancient Arabia. No perfume collection is complete without an oriental fragrance; it can smell and feel a little more adult than other perfume families, with a combination of rich and sensual notes.

What's an oriental fragrance?

In the world of perfumery, "Oriental" is an official category of perfume that is distinguished by its warm and sensual notes (think vanilla, Muskspices and amber). Other official categories of perfumes include floral fragrances that contain notes such as jasmine, peony, gardenia, tuberose, thrush, magnolia and mimosa, and woody fragrances that contain elements such as sandalwood, cedar, Agar wood and patchouli. It is interesting to note that the descriptors of floral and woody perfumes seem quite explicit, unlike the Oriental.

Over the years, Oriental fragrances by definition have evolved in many different forms, with a wide variety of fragrances and aftershaves. Warm, sweet and even a little spicy, the cheap oriental perfumes are an amazing choice for the after-night.

How to recognize an oriental fragrance

Perfume and aftershave can both have an oriental smell. The high-end oriental fragrances are generally slightly richer than others, but can vary between oriental floral fragrances and Woody oriental fragrances. You can usually recognize it through the different notes you feel in perfume or aftershave.

Oriental fragrances generally use more exotic and unusual notes, such as vanilla, cinnamon, iris, jasmine, orchid and orange blossom. That's why they often smell of luxury and gluttony. A wonderful example of oriental perfume is the brand Swiss Arabian  Valentino.

The oriental floral fragrances are usually lighter, which is perfect if you want a memorable fragrance without it being too strong or intense. On the other hand, woody oriental fragrances can add depth, with a warm, earthy base.

What makes a perfume oriental?

The oriental fragrances - also called "amber" distinguished by their unique blend of warmth and sensuality. The subgroups of this family are: Floral, Spicy, Vanilla and Woody.

The family of oriental perfumes consists of rich exotic scents. When you think of oriental fragrances, think of herbs and spices or dry, powdery and resinous notes as is the case in perfume Oud Mood.
